This course teaches the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and rescue from a live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus (not including overhead lines and underground cables) in the workplace. This course is developed for existing workers in the industry who may be required to rescue someone from an LV emergency and provide CPR. It is recommended this unit be renewed every 12 months in line with industry standards. Locate the most current training package at training.gov.au.

This course can be delivered by negotiation in your workplace or at a public Toowoomba Safety Training facility.
(face to face) • Face to Face – 9.5 hours (minimum) – full-face to face course • Blended delivery – 7.5 hours (minimum) face to face course – with the addition of 2mhours self-paced learning to be completed prior to attending the face to face course • Refresher training – 7.5 hours (minimum) – conditions apply for this option, for example, you will need to provide previous current certificates.
No work placement will be required as part of this course.

Course cost- $220
Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.
Participants must have the physical capacity to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include: • Performance tasks – The assessor will observe you demonstrating the following: Infant CPR Adult CPR & defibrillation Anaphylaxis & autoinjector Asthma & medication Choking Bleeding control & shock PIT for a snake/spider bite Rice for sprain Other: Manage infection control requirements Responding appropriately in the event of regurgitation or vomiting Demonstrating safe manual handling techniques Managing the unconscious breathing casualty – Turn a casualty on his/her side Providing a verbal report of the incident LV panel scenario and task demonstrations: Inspection and placement of rescue equipment Identification and labelling of the isolation point Perform a rescue from a LV panel in accordance with workplace procedures Conduct work observing the relevant anti-discrimination legislation, regulations, policies and workplace procedures Implement occupational health and safety workplace procedures and practices including the use of risk control measures Theory assessment • Written theory questions relating to placement of rescue equipment, controlling hazards to rescuer, victim and others, maintaining Safe Approach Distances (SAD s) appropriate to rescue from a live LV panel, practical demonstration of rescuing a person, removing victim to safe location / place of safety • A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions. You must complete all assessment questions.
